March 20th, 2007

Eh heh... *coughs*

*waves* Greetings, I return from my half-year hiatus to offer another page of this comic that you are all so kind to come and read. *bows* Thank you~

However... I have some news. Bad or good, is entirely dependent upon how I follow through with it. I've decided that the current chapter of Applause Room will be the final one that is in comic form; from here on out, the story is going to progress mostly as usual, but in novel form. I still don't think I can write very well, but others are convincing me that I'm at least better than those cheesy romantic novels you see hundreds of at the grocery store, so... can't hurt to try, I guess? ^o^;;

I've basically run into the same problem as most other webcomic artists; I just don't have the time to do a page a week anymore. Heck, if you look at my track record, I rarely have had the time. But it's not like I don't want to put in the time; I really do love this story. I like it so much, that I don't want the story and pacing to suffer from my slow comic-making ways. A lot has changed about all these characters over the years, especially ever since the comic was started in 3 1/2 years ago. If I take a year and a half to do one tiny little episode in the lives of Haneko and her friends, who knows if it'll be the story I started with...?

Luckily, a solution popped up in front of me before I was going to tearfully give up this project of mine. I totally owe it to National Novel Writing Month (and Teresa for making me do it :D) for the fact that I know now that I can write fiction pretty darn fast. It's a waaay less complicated process than comic-making; you just open Word, and GO. 0o0 It's rather liberating. HOWEVER! That doesn't mean the end of Applause Room as a visual story entirely; I'll be putting in little panels and drawings to go with the chapters as they come out, just so I can pound in to your heads EXACTLY how I want a certain scene to be. Or something like that. XD Basically, I love the story, and I've also loved what I've drawn in this comic, and I want to try to keep that going.

So, yes, sorry for the hugely overly long rant, but I figured I should really spell it all out so it's not totally out-of-the-blue when the switch happens. There's one more page left of comic though, so please look forward to that~ :) In between I may do some weird experimental half-comic half random no-text pictures, but I haven't decided on anything yet. This website is still going to host it all, as long as Amanda is willing to let me continue to leech off of her (BLESS YOU. BLESS YOU SO MUCH), and I'll put up links to the prose-chapters in the archive section just under the comic chapters. If you have any suggestions or preferences on how you read this stuff, please email me and let me know~ I'm thinking that I'll use Google Docs & Spreadsheets so that I can make it just the right font and style that I want and such... That wouldn't require you to sign up or anything, of course, so don't worry about that.

Thanks again for coming by. I hope you read Applause Room: the Novel and enjoy it as much as the comic. :)
